"By God, don't choose to write a villanelle"

By God, don't choose to write a villanelle!
Curse, damn you Dylan, into that good night!
I'd rather swallow porcupines in hell.

Most wise men know that triolets are swell.
They'll charm a naked coed through your night.
By God, don't choose to write a villanelle

like I did: torture, pain, a death knell.
My throat is parched, my sphincter loose (now tight).
I'd rather swallow porcupines. In hell,

the villanelle was used to ring the bell
that summoned Mephistopheles to light.
By God, don't choose to write a villanelle.

The villanelle is why the angels fell:
their botched refrains, their rhyming "light" and "night."
I'd rather swallow porcupines in hell.

A pantoum is a simpler form to sell;
the terzanelle is easier to write,
by God. Don't choose to write a villanelle!
I'd rather swallow porcupines. In hell.

by god, i would
